For those who feel Nightline did ICP an injustice, and are interested in seeing the entire 30 minute Martin Bashir interview uncut, we now have it available for you to watch.
After watching it, you can definitely tell the interview was a lot more light hearted than what was on TV. Add some scary sound effects to some juggalo murderers and suddenly ICP are evil bastards with this crazy cult of killers supporting them. Whatever. They made a lot of good points that got cut in the editing room. I only wish Martin busting out laughing while reading lyrics from 'Love Song' would have made it to TV.

To comment on the "coolness" of being a juggalo... Back when I was in high school and junior high (late 90's and early 2000's)....Nobody even knew what a fucking Juggalo was. Everybody though my shirts were scary and I was a psychopath, even though all I did was go to school, make good grades, and speak my mind. I never gave a shit whether or not what other people thought...if I thought something was cool, that is all that ever mattered to me. When I was in undergrad, I still wore ICP shirts every day for the first couple of years because that was all the clothes I had. I didn't even own a collared shirt. Now, most people didn't give a fuck about what I wore. However, most people assumed I was an idiot because I wore ICP shirts all the time and every person they had ever had interactions with was a fucking idiot. Nowadays I only wear ICP shirts around the house or if I'm being lazy. I no longer feel the need to show off to the world what music I like and for the most part I try to keep it restricted to my personal life. Wether juggalos are good/bad or whatever....it doesn't fucking matter. Most people have a negative perception of us and in order for me to succeed in my professional life (pharmacy at a medical university), I try to keep people having a high opinion of me...which does not include insane clown posse t-shirts...regardless of how fresh they are. |

i admit that i'm prone to phases. when the first DL album dropped they had this one shirt i couldn't help but get. i slowly started incorporating band shirts back into my wardrobe and yes, it was only PSY. i had already been down for several years at that point, and it just kind of happened because it seemed fresh at the time. it was in an era when i was extermely proud of everything they had going on and yes, it was dope having the old-school style ringmaster shirt and shit like that. i had an awesome Twiztid shirt that looked like them looking out through another matrix-like dimension (alot of white and lime/green colors)and i wore that one for the longest time. but the phase lasted a few years and it never went beyond t-shirts. now those shirts are in a large garbage bag, stashed away, with my sisters promise that they will one day be a huge wall collage. i don't know if she will ever do it, but it would be dope as fuck. funny thing is that i never noticed if people looked at me odd because of it. i grew up on the gulf coast in Ala-fucking-bama so i got strange looks my whole life anyway. but i can say that there were times when older women (old enough to have grandkids) would tell me how beautiful my Wraith shirt was. they usually thought it was some kind of Madi Gra shirt becasue of the colors and circus theme. hilarious... old women loved my wraith shirt... happened more than once. i would tell them it was a rap group and they would just smile and say something like " oh yes, my grandson might listen to them." so i guess we all get different experiences. |
