Well, its a good thing i got some high-THC hash to burn while reviewing this CD.
1. Rock The World: This is the first song I ever heard by Potluck. High production was concentrated on to make this a major release, especially when you get 21 songs for about 13 bucks. I didn't think the beat was that strongest out of everything to make the first cut. Stars: 2
2. Get High: Oh that's right! ok, hold on.. (puff puff cough).. I liked this beat a lot better.. nice n slow to match that nigga lippin on that pinner yo holdin'.. the Chorus reminds me a bit of Psychopathic and they're using that high-pitch voice which only seems to work in a few instances. Stars: 5
3. Fire: Yes! What a beat! Low frequency booms with sweet sounding female backin vocals and whistles and great background sounds, chants and scatches. There is a video available on this one at Suburban and i figure its the mostest shit done live. This song truly showcases Potluck's incredible talent. Stars: 8.5
4. Skit. Too much like the one that ICP did.
5. Mary Jane: Weird little voice singing in this one, not sure if i like it or not. For good reason, they break down the set list on this song with a slower beat and long pauses. A little too much on the hip hop side for me. Features The Luniz Stars: 2.5
6. Money Makes The World Go Round: Sick Chorus, sounds like Bone Thugs at times, great slow beat to it. These guys seem to bring all these genres together nicely. Stars: 5.5
7. Dank Alumni: My favorite down n wicked track on this CD. The beat is out of this world. The verses are incredible from start to finish. Another weed song of course. I can stomp something mean to this bitch.... Stars: 10
8. My Life: Weird voice distortion again. Yeah, its ok... not really into it. We slow back down again on this track but and softer on the vocals. Your usual story-tellin verses. Stars: 3.5
9. What We Are: OMG! You get Tech N9ne, Big Krizz AND Potluck on this bitch. It starts in your face and doesn't let up. It only gets better as it continues. Real HipHop sounding chorus. Tech rips it and Kalico is just as good back this shit up. Stars: 7.5
10. U Aint That Fine: Groovy little dance tune they could play in most clubs and its pretty funny. Talking about stupid bitches thinkin they all that walkin they walk... hahaha... oh.. eh, i could take it or leave it.. Features E-40 & Bosko. Stars: 3
11. Skit.. ok, skip..
12. Roll Big: I like this song. It has nicely positioned guitars and the Kottonmouth Kings who bring it for the lyrics. Sounds like real drums too. Stars: 7
13. Doing Alright: Uh oh.. Potluck bringin it scrubby.. talking about they just like to hang and chill and be true with homies and not needin bling n caddies.. Its decent. Stars: 5
14. Welcome 2 Humboldt: Pretty much another weed song but more about Humboldt County. Basically the Weed Capitol of California. Its a whole Grower county.. hahaha.. some ganja type chorus. Trippy sounds but a nice sounding buzz in yo ear. Smoke one on this one.... Stars: 6
15. Love Me: Uh oh.. a love song.. Skip.
16. Revolution: With Chali 2na from Jurassic 5, this shit is off the monsta.. sick sounding backup chant vocals with great lines and harmonizing. Stars: 8
17. Skit: ...yeah
18. Marijuana 101: Time for school kiddies.. Each verse talks about a different step in the weed game. Listen close. Great song, bitchen beat matched with down ass pot rhymes. (puff puff cough) Stars: 9
19. One Day: yeah, i dont like this one.. too much enough of that already on this album...
20. Our History: A not so bad story-tellin rap about them startin up and growin in their underground roots. Stars: 3
21. BONUS TRACK: Funeral (featuring: Twiztid): Ok, this is it yo.. this is THE SHIT! Best track on the album, but like i said.. not my favorite. Very emotional.. makes you think.. how we wanna be represented when we cant represent ourselves... Magical female vocals by aggressively moving piano.... Stars: 10
This is just my opinion. What's great, is that everybody has their own tastes and dislikes or likes.. This CD is definitely worth buying.. Juggalo, backpacker, whatever.. I think Suburban Noize should be proud of having these guys on their label.
